Transition
Transition Services Overview
Transition services help students with special education needs prepare for life after high school. These services begin when a student turns 14 years old (or older) and are designed to support their goals for adulthood.
Transition services focus on three main areas:
1. Post-Secondary Education and Training
Students explore and build the skills, education, or training needed to achieve their individual career goals.
2. Employment
Students identify career interests and goals, then develop the skills necessary for success in their chosen field.
3. Independent Living
Students gain important life skills that help them live independently and actively participate in their community.
